Getting Approved on Flipkart, Meesho, and AJIO: What Actually Gets Checked

Three Indian marketplaces, three different approval bars, and three different reasons applications get rejected.

Flipkart checks the seller before the catalog

A new seller account without GST registration matched correctly to the business name, or a bank account not yet verified through Flipkart's own verification flow, gets held at the account stage regardless of how complete the catalog looks. Get the seller-level paperwork verified first; catalog quality only matters once the account itself clears.

Meesho is stricter on category-specific documentation

Meesho's general seller onboarding is comparatively fast, but specific categories, apparel with certain fabric claims and anything in the food-adjacent space, carry their own document requirements that are not part of the standard onboarding flow and are easy to miss on a first pass.

AJIO reviews brand positioning, not just compliance

AJIO, including AJIO Luxe, evaluates whether a brand fits the platform's positioning as part of onboarding, which is a different bar than a compliance checklist. A technically complete application can still be rejected on fit, and the fix is a different pitch, not more documents.

What we actually do

Run each application against the platform's current requirements rather than a generic template, since all three platforms change requirements periodically without much notice, and resubmission after a rejection restarts a multi-week queue on some of them.
